....au revoir...

Looking for Love by Bogo on Etsy
Regrettably I've decided I can't do this blog justice... so I'm quitting! I have too much on at the moment to really search out super amazing stuff and there are so many fabulous bloggers out there with far less commitment issues than me... Perhaps someday I shell return but for now... adieu
I will continue to get my art and design fix from these brilliant blogs - Fancy New Zealand Design blog, the Jealous curator, and Finders Keepers! Perhaps you will too!

Wrinkles of the City, Shanghai 2010, by JR
Amazing Amazing Amazing photo graffiti projects by JR - found via Fancy, New Zealand Deign Blog

Also via Fancy - another NZ design shop online - Foxes... Chock a block full of more gifty goodness to drool over!

Wanna know what beauty and wonderment can be made with paint and ice block sticks? Of course you do! Check out the work of Nathalie Chikhi, via this art is yours

Super cute post about Love Tokens on The Golden Smith (via All The Mountains)... I have a bolt (yes... like nuts and bolts) tucked away in my jewelery box cause it was the first thing hubby gave to me (I think it had something to do with "here's a screw baby" - yep I found me a good'un)... But these love tokens are allot prettier and more sophisticated - and I was going to say possibly more effective... but maybe not, cause, well, here we are all married and all... ignore me - blabbling again... Boys take note love token - cuter than a bolt!!! x

More about Love! These prints from Blacklist Studios make me all warm and Fuzzy... would make a fantastic gift for the one that you adore... (via Modamuse)

Mona's Tough Side

Under the Bonnet
Hello and welcome to a brand new week!
Introducing Erin Flannery - a Gold Coast artist the creator of these crazy, beautiful, whimsical, savage, femme fatals.  I love the juxtaposition of elegant, arty, pencil, and muted washes of color, with the bold and 'feirce' graffiti accents.  Fresh, original and oh so amazing - I heart this art!

Works on Found Objects
More info can be found on Erin's blog. And to own your own Erin Flannery piece visit Anthea Polson Art Gallery.

Wishing you all a fantastic week!

Purple...

Purple Converse, painting by Undine CG
Wear it Purple is on Tomorrow (15/10/10)...  help make the world a more understanding place...  I like to think I'm an open minded, self aware, conscientious person but even I am guilty of using 'gay' as a derogatory term - despite all my gay, lesbian and by-sexual friends and family.  Tomorrow, if you do nothing more, at least think about how your words, looks, and actions can effect others - gay, straight or otherwise inclined! After all we are all humans and we are all deserving of respect and understanding!!!

Wine and Art

Wine labels have come in leaps and bounds - pretty, sophisticated, quirky and cute - you can find wine to suite any mood - and I must confess I often buy wine based souly on the label...
But today I'm talking about wine labels that are close to my heart - not only do they combine art and wine (two of my favorite things) but they also have a family connection - my Uncle is one of the wine makers- the T in the TW of the brand, and the CV in particular is special as that was the white served at my wedding...
I love that they are pushing the boundaries of white labels can be and what they can do.  I love that they are cheeky and sophisticated - take a look at the fine print on the innocent label - Innocent - untouched by oak.
And I'm not the only one seeing the value of good design and point of difference in labelling - check out Fancy - New Zealand Design Blog for more product packaging beauty!!

Abandonment...

Somewhere along the Great Ocean Rd
Hello little blog... I have not abandoned you yet... Mum and Dad stopped by on their way home from Europe (goddamn parents spending all our inheritance :)) and I thought I would have lots of interesting places and artists to talk about... Alas we couldn't drag the father figure into a gallery or museum of any sort but I did manage to see a fair chunk of Victoria which I will share with you in the not to distant future... But for now  I just wanna enjoy the sound of a silent house!!

Damien Kamholtz

Crowd Crown Blues mixed media on canvas

We All Become the Same mixed media on canvas

The Cape mixed media on canvas
Damien Kamholtz is the creator of these amazing works of art...  I think they're breathtaking.  I love the gentleness of them, the subtlety of colour.  They are fantastically imagined settings where objects and views are superimposed over one another creating a complete image that speaks of memory and childhood and dreams.  I think they should be dubbed memory scape's as within the canvas one image is linked to another in the same way something - seen, smelt or heard - can link to a thousand different memories.  I think they are truly beautiful.
The Trade Mixed media on canvas

Damien's work is represented by the fabulous  Arthouse Gallery.  To find out more visit them in Sydney or take a look at their site.

Have a memory filled weekend!
